FAQ
- Why desktop instead of cloud?
- Your WhatsApp session and API keys stay on your PC. Cloud SaaS stores inbox data on vendor servers and charges per-seat platform fees. Desk is for operators who want control and transparent BYOK AI costs.
- Why BYOK instead of bundled AI?
- You see exactly what OpenRouter charges per model. We sell software (license + support), not marked-up AI credits. Typical SMB usage is a few dollars to tens of dollars per month on OpenRouter.
- Why draft queue instead of full automation?
- Customer-facing teams need a human approve step. Draft queue lets AI suggest replies — nothing sends until you click Send to WhatsApp. Safer than fully autonomous bots.
- When should I use official WhatsApp API instead?
- If you need multi-agent team inbox, CRM integrations, broadcast campaigns at scale, or Meta compliance workflows — use a cloud platform (see our /vs pages). Desk is for solo/small teams on one PC session.
- Do I need Node.js?
- No. Clients use the Windows installer only. Node/npm is for developers building from source.
- Where do I get an OpenRouter key?
- Create an account at openrouter.ai, add credits, then paste the API key in Setup → API keys. Use Save + Test until all checks are green.
- Voice notes are not transcribing
- Install ffmpeg (winget install Gyan.FFmpeg), verify OpenRouter STT in API keys Test, and ensure the voice note is inbound from a customer.
- License already activated on another device
- Each license binds to one machine on first activation. Email support with your purchase email to request a transfer.
- Is this official WhatsApp?
- No. The app uses whatsapp-web.js (unofficial). Use a dedicated business number and read our Acceptable Use policy.
